Animate emptiness. A term used in literature associated with the Kālacakra Tantra. The term is used to characterize the consort known as the Great Seal, who arises in visionary appearance during completion stage yogas. While the Great Seal is “empty” (stong pa), this emptiness is also animate, in the sense that it is able to embrace the yogi and confer supreme and immutable bliss (mchog du mi 'gyur pa'i bde ba).
