The Tibetan name of Dharma-master Fazun (1902-1980), a famous Chinese practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism. Fazun studied extensively in Lhasa and Kham, translated numerous Tibetan religious works into Chinese, and wrote Chinese-language materials for learning Tibetan language. He also wrote on Tibetan history and contemporary politics. He served as the director of the Sino-Tibetan Buddhist Institute (Tib. rgya bod lung rigs bslab grwa khang, Chi. ḥan Zang jiaoli yuan).
