The mother, the demon, and the tsen. A term referring to three main religious guardians (bka' skyong) in the Bön pantheon. ma (“mother”) refers to ma mchog srid pa'i rgyal mo, the queen of the world. bdud (“demon”) refers to dmu bdud 'byams pa khrag mgo, a fierce protector. btsan (a type of wrathful, non-human being, sometimes identified with mountain- or rock-spirits) refers to btsan rgyal yang ni wer.
