The dance of the nine gze ma sisters. A monastic dance ('cham) performed in the Bön tradition. The dance depicts an important moment in Bön cosmology, when srid pa’i rgyal mo and sangs po 'bum khri united and produced twenty-seven eggs. The first nine of these hatched to produce a group of nine sisters, called the gze ma dgu. The masked-dance presents the story of these nine sisters, which are depicted with human bodies and animal heads. The nine sisters are: (1) sngon mo 'brug mgo, (2) ljang nag sbrul mgo, (3) nag mo skyung mgo, (4) dkar mo seng mgo, (5) dmar mo dred mgo, (6) dmar nag spyang mgo, (7) smug nag stag mgo, (8) ser ljang khyung mgo, and (9) klu mo kha rngam.
