The mind-transmission of the conquerors. One of a set of three transmissions, characteristic of Nyingma tantras, that describe how a tantra becomes present in the world. The three transmissions are: (1) The mind-transmission of the conquerors (rgyal ba'i dgongs brgyud), in which a tantra is passed from a primordial buddha to another realized being, in a mind-to-mind transmission that does not use language or signs. (2) The symbolic transmission of the knowledge-holders (rig 'dzin brda'i brgyud), in which the tantra is transmitted in signs to “knowledge-holders.” (3) The hearing transmission of persons (gang zag snyan brgyud), when the tantra comes to earth, and is heard by humans in ordinary language.
