Note
Yon tan rgya mtsho discusses the six parameters and four approaches (tshul bzhi) in the context of hermeneutics as applied to Buddhist Tantras. The six parameters, in three sets of two are arranged in the order they developed historically in response to doctrinal innovations, are: (1and2) don gyi mtha' la brten pa ni drang nges gnyis [24.3]; (3and4) dgongs bshad and dgongs pa can min pa'i bshad pa [25.2]; and (5and6) sgra ji bzhin pa and sgra ji bzhin ma yin pa [25.4]. Summarizing the mtha' drug and tshul bzhi Yon tan rgya mtsho states the following [27.4].
